Transcending Culture and Space Community Mural is a collaborative public art project conceived by Kong Ho and Dr. Martie Geiger-Ho to celebrate cultural diversity, social inclusion, and community participation in Brunei Darussalam. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Embassy Brunei, the project united students, artists, educators, embassy staff, and community members to create a 30-foot mural through a series of hands-on workshops. Drawing upon universal symbols, vibrant colors, and stylized butterflies and stars, the mural reflects shared aspirations across cultures while fostering creativity, dialogue, and teamwork. The project demonstrates how community art can strengthen cultural understanding and inspire lasting civic engagement.

Visions of Brunei: A Cultural Free-to-All Visual Experience of Digital Hybrid Mural

Visions of Brunei is a collaborative studio-based research project that explores the intersection of digital design, fine art, and public engagement through a large-scale digital hybrid mural. Bringing together Brunei’s visual artists and University of Brunei Darussalam art students, the project celebrates the nation’s diverse cultural identity while fostering creativity, collaboration, and innovation. Composed of 24 digitally designed modules printed on fabric, the portable mural is accompanied by a multimedia presentation documenting its creative process. By combining contemporary digital media with public art, the project promotes Brunei’s emerging creative industries and provides an accessible platform for artistic expression, cultural dialogue, and community appreciation.

Bulgarian-American Cultural Mural

Bulgarian-American Cultural Mural is a collaborative public art project developed during Kong Ho’s Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program as a visiting professor at the National Academy of Art in Sofia, Bulgaria. Funded by the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program and the Bulgarian-American Commission for Educational Exchange, the five-month residency fostered artistic and cultural exchange through collaborative mural design and production. The project brought together Bulgarian art students to explore shared cultural values through collective creativity, digital imaging, and hands-on mural painting. From concept development and wall preparation to painting, documentation, and reflection, participants transformed a public space into a meaningful cultural landmark. The mural demonstrates how international collaboration, public art, and education can strengthen cross-cultural understanding, creative problem-solving, and lasting community connections.

Independence Arts Studio Mural Design

Independence Arts Studio Mural is a community-based mural design project that empowered artists with disabilities to express their experiences through public art. During a week-long collaborative workshop, Kong Ho worked with ten artists from Independence Arts Studio to develop a mural design for the Liberty Resources building in Philadelphia. Funded by Independence Arts Studio, Liberty Resources, and the Mural Arts Program, the project explored the struggle for independent living and the barriers created by inaccessible housing and public spaces. Through collective design and artistic dialogue, the mural transformed personal stories into a powerful visual statement advocating accessibility, inclusion, disability rights, and social equity.

20th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Mural

20th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Mural is a collaborative public art project celebrating the achievements and ongoing advocacy of the disability rights movement in the United States. Designed by Kong Ho through the integration of artworks and photographs contributed by Ohio artists with disabilities, the mural reflects themes of accessibility, independence, justice, and equal opportunity. Funded by VSA Ohio and the Ohio Rehabilitation Services Commission, the project brought together thirteen artists with disabilities for a week of collaborative mural painting. After its unveiling on the west lawn of the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus, the portable mural traveled to fourteen venues, expanding public awareness of the Americans with Disabilities Act and promoting dialogue about inclusion, civil rights, and community empowerment.

Fretz School Mural

Fretz School Mural is a collaborative community art project created through the VSA Arts Teaching Artist Fellowship to promote inclusion, creativity, and mutual understanding among students of diverse abilities. Working alongside the art teacher and special education teacher at Floyd C. Fretz Middle School in Bradford, Pennsylvania, Kong Ho guided 26 art club students and 8 students with disabilities in designing and painting a mural for the Life Skills Room. Incorporating student silhouettes, educational signs, and coin imagery used in life skills instruction, the mural celebrates individuality, collaboration, and learning while transforming the classroom into a vibrant environment that encourages respect, accessibility, and inclusive education.

Blaisdell Hall: The Arts Mural is a collaborative public art project created by Kong Ho and ten students in the 2008 Summer Mural Design course at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. Designed for Blaisdell Hall—the home of the university’s visual art, music, theater, communication programs, and auditorium—the mural celebrates the transformative power of the arts through iconic references to painting, music, theater, film, and creative expression. Guided by a curriculum emphasizing collaborative design, mural painting techniques, and public art, students transformed a shared vision into a permanent landmark that inspires imagination, emotional expression, artistic inquiry, and the pursuit of truth through creativity.

Old City Hall Historical Mural

Old City Hall Historical Mural is a site-specific public art commission created by Kong Ho for the City of Bradford in 2007 to celebrate the city's rich heritage and evolving identity. Installed in the historic Old City Hall, the mural weaves together iconic symbols of Bradford's past, present, and future, including its oil boom, railroad history, civic architecture, and industrial legacy represented by the Zippo lighter and oil refining industries. References to the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, scenic autumn landscapes, transportation, and community landmarks reflect the city's cultural vitality and aspirations. Through a dynamic composition that bridges history with progress, the mural transforms a civic space into a visual narrative of Bradford's resilience, innovation, and enduring community pride.

2004 International VSA Arts Festival Mural: Odyssey: Dare to Imagine is a commissioned public art project created by Kong Ho for the 2004 International VSA Arts Festival in Washington, D.C. Inspired by the festival theme, the mural uses dynamic images of horses as metaphors for imagination, aspiration, freedom, and the epic journey of Odysseus. Painted over a month at the Millennium Arts Center, the large-scale mural celebrates creativity as a universal force that transcends physical and cultural boundaries. Unveiled at Union Station during the festival, the mural later became part of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford's permanent collection, where it continues to inspire artistic exploration, resilience, and the transformative power of imagination.

Mt. Jewett Heritage Mural

Mt. Jewett Heritage Mural is a large-scale public artwork celebrating the cultural heritage, history, and natural landscape of Mt. Jewett, Pennsylvania. Commissioned through funding from the McKean County Arts Council, the McKean County Industrial Development Council, and Lumber Heritage Fund, the mural honors the town's Swedish roots by weaving together iconic symbols such as a Viking longship, Dala horses, and traditional floral folk art with regional landmarks and traditions. Images of the Kinzua Bridge, Route 6, Nebo Church, Kinzua Creek, local wildlife, autumn and winter landscapes, fly fishing, and the former ice harvesting industry create a visual narrative of community identity. Originally painted on the Odd Fellows Building, the mural served as a vibrant landmark until the building was demolished in 2014, preserving the spirit and legacy of Mt. Jewett through art.

Fisher Hall Mural is a collaborative public art project created by Kong Ho and five students in the 2002 Summer Mural Design class at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. Designed for Fisher Hall, the mural celebrates the natural beauty and scientific spirit of the Bradford region by integrating its vibrant autumn landscape, forests, rivers, wildlife, native flora and fauna, fossil discoveries, and the scientific disciplines housed within the building. Inspired by M. C. Escher’s tessellations and interlocking puzzle forms, the composition unifies art, nature, and science into a dynamic visual narrative that encourages curiosity, interdisciplinary learning, environmental appreciation, and creative exploration.

Belilios Public School Mural

Belilios Public School Mural is one of the pioneering projects of the Muralists-in-Schools Project, founded by Kong Ho through the Hong Kong Mural Society and supported by the Hong Kong Quality Education Fund and the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. Created in collaboration with artist Joel E. Ferraris, teachers, and students, the mural explores the theme “Environmental Protection” by linking outer space, technology, wildlife, and recycled materials into a unified visual narrative. Through collaborative design and hands-on mural production, students transformed their environmental concerns into a permanent work of public art that promotes creativity, teamwork, ecological awareness, and the lasting educational value of community-based mural making.

Tam Lee Lai Fun School Mural is a collaborative public art project created through the Muralists-in-Schools Project, founded by Kong Ho under the Hong Kong Mural Society and supported by the Hong Kong Quality Education Fund and the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. Designed with students, teachers, and artist Joel Ferraris, the mural explores the wonder of space exploration through imagery of the solar system, astronauts, space shuttles, and scientific discovery, set against the Hong Kong Victoria Harbour skyline. By integrating science, imagination, and artistic expression, the project encouraged students to transform their curiosity about the universe into a permanent mural that celebrates creativity, collaborative learning, and the limitless possibilities of exploration.

Tin Yiu (II) Estate Mural

Tin Yiu II Estate Mural is a collaborative community public art project created as part of the Art for the Masses Scheme – Care for Your Estate, the first major initiative launched by Kong Ho after founding the Hong Kong Mural Society. Supported by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council and the Hong Kong Housing Authority, the project engaged community residents, students, and Hong Kong Mural Society artists in designing and painting a mural that reflects the transformation of Tin Shui Wai. Juxtaposing historic rice fields, fish ponds, and the local historical pagoda with modern housing, shopping centers, and the Light Rail system, the mural celebrates the district’s evolving identity while fostering community participation, cultural memory, and neighborhood pride.
